Insurance Recovery and Resolution Directive (IRRD)

The Insurance Recovery and Resolution Directive (IRRD) introduces new, harmonised reporting requirements aimed at ensuring insurers are prepared for financial stress and orderly resolution.

These requirements go beyond Solvency II, with a strong focus on liquidity, intragroup dependencies, critical functions, and resolution-ready data.

IRRD reporting will likely be filed in XBRL once the ITS and taxonomy are finalised and member states have transposed the IRRD into national law (by January 2027). Firms preparing for IRRD reporting should plan for XBRL-compliant submission tooling, as is already the case for Solvency II.
